Ice Gallery, Seoul

I had done my research on where to visit in Seoul, one of the place that i was so tempted to go is the Ice Gallery.

However, many Koreans do not even know that this place exists!!

So, we had a hard time searching for this place.

We could not even find it in the map. We just had lunch nearby and were walking around in Insadong area. We thought it was nearby..

According to the Tourist Information Centre and the GPS, we must walk pass this Girls' School..

We had to walk through this long road to another end.

 

 Follow the sign to the Art Centre/ Library..

 

Then, it is the Art Sonje Center on your left. So turn right at the junction.

 

This is the Jung Dok Public Libraryon you left side.

The Ice gallery is just located across the road on your right side.

 

Look across the road, it is just located next to this Cafe, look at the Blue signage...

 

 

Argghhh... It's so hot and we had been walking for so long trying to search for this place..

Ice Gallery is gonna be the best place for such hot weather..

We need to walk down to the basement..

"Finally!!Here i am!"

This is the ticketing counter...

You need to pay 7,000Won per pax to enter the ice sculpture exhibition Hall.

Before we enter the "Freezer" @ Exhibition Hall, we need to wear the jacket, coz it is -18C inside here...

Don't worry, they have more than enough for you to choose, so don't bother to bring any jacket.

This is the stage for the ice sculpture winners..

Everyone is working so hard to carve a glass.

The fruits in the ice bowl is a complimentary, but only 1 bowl for 4 of us??

Anyway, it was a fun and exciting experience. 

Some people might think 7000 won for such a short 5 minutes tour is not worth it, anyway it all depends whether how strong you are to be able to withstand such freezing temperature... 

You might freeze to death if you stay more than 10 minutes i think.

You could not feel all your fingers, nose and ears after coming out from there.

Bong Shu Jjim Dak- Steamed Chicken @ Insadong, Seoul

The similarities of all Korean food are they like to cook everything in one big pot, all in one...
Whether they drink soup, eat chicken, eat Bugalgi, a NORMAL KOREAN would pour the whole bowl of rice in and eat altogether....


Today, we are at Insadong, the cultural street again..

 This is a very special Restaurant- Bong Shu Jjim Dak

Why is it special to me? Coz...it only sells only 1 item>> Steamed or Broiled Spicy Chicken Platter, which is very famous and originated from Andong, Gyuengsangbuk-do province of South Korea.

The only choice is you can choose the size: Small, Medium or Big.

 We chose the biggest pot of boiled chicken coz there are 5 of us...

As for the smallest size, one dish is enough to fill 2 starving tourists.

 

But, i tell you what, this is very delicious...

This platter consists of many ingredients like: chickens, cucumber, carrot, potatoes, onions, chillies, etc all marinated in a very special type of Korean Soy bean paste....

This is some kind of cold sour soup to give you more appetite but i don;t like the taste...

You always need scissors to cut the noodles inside coz it is normally very very long..., or just cut anything else that you think is too big to put in the mouth...

i sure cannot eat without rice.....

hehe... now you know hoe big the platter is...

Very nice interior as well, and the air-con is so super strong to prevent you from sweating since the chicken is very hot and spicy...

王妃家 Wang Bi Ga- Myeung Dong, Seoul

This is about a quick but delicious meal at Wang Bi Ga, Myeung Dong.
We had a set lunch of Pork Ribs, rice, Kimchi Soup, Cold Ramen, and many other side dishes.

Wang Bi Ji is located at the 1st floor..

Very nice interior design..

 Very packed with the lunch crowd, as they have special lunch offer!!
(look at the exhaust hood on every table, they also let you do BBQ  here but mostly at night)

 

All the side dishes and rice are here in less than 10 minutes...They provide very quick and efficient service....

There are so many side dishes, needle mushrooms, broccoli, sprouts, salad vegetables with mayo, cold soup, tofu, mashed potato, etc .....

But, i only eat 3 of them below, the 2 cold ones i also don't like:

The very yummy spicy and sour soypaste Kimchi Soup with tofu and ham, I love it so much!!..

The main dish = yummy pork Ribs..

 How do we eat it???? Like this:

This raw vege is very important...

Firstly: You put the pork rib on the leaf

Secondly, you put you favourite side dish on top of it

Thirdly, you put the Sam jang sauce

Lastly, add rice on it!

Yummy!!

Look at the expression!!!

This is consider very cheap for the Koreans, 50,000 Won for 5 person, that means only 10,000 won per head. (which is RM30 per person) I think it's worth it!!
