Rice Dumplings (Zongzi or Bakcang )

Again it is the 5th Day of the 5th Lunar month of the year, the day when the Chinese celebrate The Dragon Boat Festival to remember Qu Yuan...

A week before the actual day, many people already started wrapping Rice Dumplings and give away among all the relatives and friends. However, i never know how to make a rice dumplings. But, it was a coincident that my Kitchen Expert idol auntie was making thousands of dumplings last Sunday.

So, i busily took a lot of pictures. I even ask my "Ging-Ging" (auntie to pose for me).

Glutinous rice, with fried pork wrapped up in the Bamboo or Giant Pandan Leaves.

Put the whole bundle into the pot, make sure all the "Bak zang"
fully summersed into the water.

All cooked delicious.

Hang it up for it to drip dry...

All ready on the table fro packing...

Wow~ so many....

Just showing some pictures, nothing much to mentioned coz i blogged about The Dragon Boat Festival Last year..

Christmas 2010 at Ristorante Beccari, Merdeka Palace Hotel and Suites

The previous  weekend we had Japanese Buffet at Riverside Majastic and then I suddenly had cravings for Italian food last weekend. So, i had to pause my diet program.
I missed Restaurant Beccari, the first time i went there was about 8 years ago with my hubby, and it was also during Christmas.

Many tables reserved with Christmas party pack...

This Italian restaurant at Merdeka Palace is a very cosy and romantic place for a nice date...

Let's start our meal with the pasta corner for Autumn, that's her favourite...
Nice ambiance with all the decorations...

Beef Lasagna...

Pizza....

Love the roasted Turkey , lamb and mushroom soup...

Yummy prawns, pizza, and my favourite potatoes...

I was so very tempted by those prawns with cheese, so even i have slight seafood allergy, i still ate them all.. haha!

Desserts corner with many choices of cakes and desserts, tiramisu, fludge, etc just fill your stomach with those cheese and chocolates..

Fruits like papaya, honey dew, and dragon fruits are all our favourite as well...

You may also want some ice-cream after meals

Hohoho.. Santa on the cake...

It's Boxing day, Sunday 2010.

Let's just forget about the fat and calories tonight, just eat...

Look at the messy table full of plates...

I forgot how many plates have we eaten, but stomachs are all blotted...

Baby below 5 years old is free of charge, so 1 adult is about less than RM80 ...

A group photo at the door before we left...

Nice waterfront view on the wall at Merdeka Palace Hotel, Kuching...

MERRY CHRISTMAS FOR 2010, Happy New Year for 2011.....

Anyway, Italian Buffet is only available on every Sunday or unless there is a special festive days like Christmas, Boxing Day or New Year's Eve, so you may want to consider here for NYE dinner if the venue is still available, Valentine's Day will be nice as well.

For reservations, you may call 082-258000 for Ristorante Beccari.

Father's Day Round 1 @ Top Spot Seafood Centre Permata Carpark

Father's Day was last Sunday...
Whenever there is any festival or any celebration day whether father's Day, Mother's Day, Chinese New Year, Christmas, Raya, Gawai, etc it is always the busiest time for me. Firstly, i gotto plan and organize events and promotions. Secondly, i gotto celebrate 2 times, which is usually my family tradition. Normally, i have dinner with my husband side's family on the actual day, while having dinner with my side of family on the eve of the actual day. So, that's 2 rounds...
Last Saturday, i brought my dad and my family to have dinner at Top Spot Seafood Centre Permata Car park. It used to be one of our frequent eating places ages ago, but when it became more towards targeting tourists, and started to slaughter people with their unreasonable price we stopped going there. Since, there are too many other better seafood centre like Bako, Buntal, Sematan, etc. If you don;t feel like driving too far, you can also find nice seafood in the City area like Pending, Batu Lintang, Hui Sing, etc...

I went to Ling Long Stall straight away to choose my prey after we got our table.

The first thing i did was, pick the crabs!! Hmm.. where are the Giant pincers??
Ok, about 2 kG, how much? Just to make sure that they don't simply over-charge...

Then, choose some press Prawns, weigh it>> almost 1 KG, enough!

Then.. choose a Fish to steam...

Eee... and get some 1/2 side Clams also.....

Fresh Sugar Cane...

Fresh Coconut

I wanted to order Sugar cane + Coconut but they said "Don;t have! Different stall!"  few year back and now still the same. not innovative!! I wonder why are these people so selfish and don't know how to think far for the business, they can just mix half glass of coconut and half glass of sugar cane, and then come out with a different menu bah! Stubborn!
So, i ordered Coconut Longan in the end.

Father's day Cake

Mom & Dad posing while cutting the cake before the food arrived...

Dad ordered this>> Umai (fresh fish & jelly fish mixed with lime and onions)
Such a small plate costs RM15??!! Wow, memang Angmo pricing~ anyway, it's father's day bah... so never mind...

This is the Gerai Mahal (Expensive Stall), i won't step near this stall...

Giant Crispy Oyster egg... Favourite!!

"Dou Miao" Sprouts....

I ordered 1/2 shell clams but this is full clams?? reject! Later, they fried another plate of 1/2 shell clams for us..

Fish Lips soup...

Special Tofu..

I wonder why every restaurant would cal their tofu as "Signature Tofu", when almost every restaurant cooked the same style?? .....Strategy maybe.

Venison with Ginger and soy sauce...

We wanted to order Bidin with Red Wine but they said no wine here, everything is HALAL,
so i ordered Bidin Fired with Belacan..

Here comes the Crabs...

Steamed Fish (Silver Pomfret)..

Butter Prawn,  i ordered the wrong cooking method, it should be just as simple as quick steam with salt so the freshness still can be tasted....

Everyone was busy eating....

Pollen, my youngest sis who loves blogging here...
Autumn and Sylvia, my dearest sis who is getting married soon!!
After the 11th dish, we were all blotted, too full to continue.....
and i was like.....

You know what happened to me??
My lips started swelling, and there were little rashes around them. So ichy and burning but........ I SANGGUP!!!

Wahahaha... You guys must be thinking that why am a so "Tam- Chiak", I'm a born-to-be seafood lover! I only started to get these types of allergy after i came back from my 9 months stay in KK. Maybe too much of Fresh Tiger Prawns??!! Yeah, we were harvesting those Giant Tiger Prawns, steamed it immediately when they are still alive and jumping...Ate too much of the fresh ones so my body became choosy??? it's only my own Crazy theory... LOL

Everything was perfect, even the total amount was only RM200!! Surpisingly cheap!

However, the management of this Food Centre really needs to look into the Cleanliness & hgiene of this place! Toilet and hand washing sink was extremely dirty!! Worse still when those to throw rubbish also squeeze into the patrons' lift!! Shouldn't there be a "loading/ unloading lift", which is specially for those rubbish and ingredients??
